Protofire Receives a Grant to Natively Integrate Chainlink Oracles on Klaytn

The Chainlink Community Grant Program provides financial resources to the many development teams and researchers building a more functional and accessible Chainlink Network. We encourage talented developers, innovative startups, and social impact projects to apply to the grant program here, or if you are a researcher and want to collaborate, contact us.

We’re delighted to announce that Protofire, a blockchain development service provider, has been awarded a community grant to natively integrate Chainlink oracles into KlaytnKakao’s global public blockchain platform. This integration will enable Klaytn developers to utilize Chainlink’s industry-leading oracle technology and solutions to securely access external data feeds and off-chain computations within their hybrid smart contracts, expanding the scope of decentralized applications that can be built on top of the Klaytn blockchain. Native support for Chainlink opens up a wide range of use cases on Klaytn like DeFi products secured by Chainlink Price Feeds, gaming applications connected to Esports data, dynamic NFTs augmented by real-world information, and many more types of externally connected dApps on the Klaytn blockchain.

As a part of the grant, Protofire will provide the following components to the integration:

  • Validate and adapt Chainlink contracts to ensure native compatibility with Klaytn
  • Test and deploy all Chainlink components to Klaytn mainnet, with continuous maintenance and upgrades
  • Develop automated tests to verify successful integrations of the Klaytn Network with Chainlink
  • Write documentation to show developers how to integrate their Klaytn smart contracts with Chainlink

Protofire is a widely recognized provider of development and consultancy services around blockchain, possessing extensive experience in building decentralized protocols, developer tools, and smart contracts. The company has contributed their development resources to numerous leading blockchain-based projects, including Gnosis, The Graph, Maker, Tezos, 0x, Kyber Network, and Synthetix. Protofire has already received and successfully completed several grants for the integration of the Chainlink stack into various blockchains, such as xDai, Avalanche, Plasm, and Celo, as well as built a Chainlink Testnet faucet for EVM-compatible chains. Given their extensive experience with Chainlink and other blockchains, Protofire makes for a great candidate to bring Chainlink oracles to the Klaytn ecosystem.

Klaytn is an enterprise-grade, service-centric blockchain platform designed by GroundX and supported by Kakao, one of the largest firms in South Korea. Klaytn uses a modified PBFT consensus model to harness the decentralized data, trustless computation, and distributed governance of public blockchains, as well as the low latency and high scalability of private blockchains in a more efficient hybrid design. Klaytn is secured by nodes run by numerous highly reputable brands around the globe, working together to create a reliable business platform atop a robust system of decentralized trust.

“We’re honored to receive another Chainlink community grant to natively integrate Chainlink’s industry-standard oracle technology and solution into the Klaytn Network,” stated Christian Malfesi, Director of Engineering at Protofire. “With multiple native Chainlink integrations across several prominent blockchains, our development experience and expertise will ensure a quick and secure expansion of Chainlink into Klaytn. This will enable us to empower Klaytn developers and entrepreneurs to build advanced hybrid smart contracts using external data feeds and off-chain computations from Chainlink.”

Through the Chainlink Community Grants program, we look forward to continuing to empower more and more Chainlink ecosystem teams, researchers, and social impact projects who are both researching and building key tools and infrastructure that accelerate the development of universally connected smart contracts, secure oracle networks, and impactful technology that improves the world. We will continue supporting the community as a key driver of Chainlink’s rapid growth, because only together can we make universally connected smart contracts into the dominant form of digital agreement.
