We are excited to announce that Protofire has been awarded a Chainlink Community Grant to natively integrate Chainlink oracles into IoTeX, an open-source blockchain custom-built to support Internet of Things (IoT) use cases. With Chainlink’s decentralized oracle technology, IoTeX developers will be able to build more advanced hybrid smart contract applications that have access to real-world data and off-chain computation. Soon, developers will be able to secure DeFi products with Chainlink Price Feeds, build blockchain gaming applications with secure random number generator (RNG) from Chainlink VRF, and execute smart contracts using off-chain inputs with Chainlink Automation.
As part of the grant, Protofire will facilitate the integration by:
- Validating Chainlink contracts to ensure native compatibility with the IoTeX network.
- Testing and deploying all Chainlink components to the IoTeX testnet.
- Providing automated testing to verify the integration of the IoTeX network with Chainlink, which will include the performance of tests such as the OCR job soak test, a flux aggregator test, and more.
- Creating documentation showing how developers can integrate Chainlink into the IoTeX network.
Protofire is a widely recognized provider of development and consultancy services around blockchain, possessing extensive experience in building decentralized protocols, developer tools, and smart contracts. The company has contributed its development resources to numerous leading blockchain-based projects, including Gnosis, The Graph, Maker, Tezos, 0x, Kyber Network, and Synthetix. Protofire has already received and successfully completed several grants for the integration of the Chainlink stack into various blockchains, such as xDai, Avalanche, Plasm, and Celo, as well as built a Chainlink testnet faucet for EVM-compatible chains. Given their extensive experience with Chainlink and other blockchains, Protofire makes a great candidate to bring Chainlink oracles to the IoTeX ecosystem.
IoTeX is a tailor-made blockchain that focuses on speed, security, and scalability to enable novel IoT use cases. The IoTeX platform combines blockchain, tamper-resistant hardware, and confidential computing to enable full-stack IoT solutions with enhanced trust, security, and privacy guarantees. IoTeX works closely with major IoT manufactures, institutions, and blockchain companies; examples include the company’s role as a Co-Chair of the Industrial Internet Consortium, its employment of highly secure Nordic Semiconductor technology, and its provision of technical contributions to IEEE as an Acting Corporate Member.
“We are honored to receive another grant from the Chainlink Community Grant Program to integrate Chainlink’s industry-leading oracle technology into IoTeX,” stated Christian Malfesi, Director of Engineering at Protofire. “As Protofire has extensive experience securely integrating Chainlink into multiple blockchains, we expect that the IoTeX integration will also be seamless and timely. After the Chainlink integration, IoTeX’s developer community can start leveraging off-chain services and real-world data to build more advanced hybrid smart contract applications.”
Through the Chainlink Community Grants program, we look forward to continuing to empower Chainlink ecosystem teams, researchers, and social impact projects who are both researching and building key tools and infrastructure that accelerate the development of hybrid smart contracts, secure oracle networks, and other impactful technology that improves the world. We will continue supporting the community as a key driver of Chainlink’s rapid growth, because only together can we make universally connected smart contracts into the dominant form of digital agreement.
