Announcing the Summer 2021 Smart Contract Developer Bootcamp

We’re excited to announce that registration is now open for Chainlink’s Summer 2021 Smart Contract Developer Bootcamp! To help accelerate the continued wave of innovation and adoption in the smart contract ecosystem, our developer bootcamp will give developers across the globe a hands-on, guided experience to begin building with Solidity smart contracts and Chainlink oracles to create the next generation of hybrid smart contracts.

Built for developers beginning their journey into blockchain technology and smart contracts, our first smart contract developer bootcamp will cover:

  • The fundamentals of blockchain technology, Ethereum, and smart contracts
  • How to write, deploy, and interact with smart contracts in Solidity
  • How to use Chainlink to create hybrid smart contracts that use off-chain data and computation
  • How to work with development environments such as Hardhat and Brownie

This worldwide virtual event is free. Interested developers can choose to register for one of two separate tracks—a three-session workshop that runs during the week or a two-session weekend track. Register now to secure your spot, and read on below to find out more details about the developer bootcamp. Spots are limited: the earlier you register, the better your chance of getting in!

Join the Incoming Wave of Smart Contract Developers

Though it’s estimated that there are over twenty six million developers in the world, only a few hundred thousand developers are proficient in Solidity, the most popular programming language for smart contracts.

Smart contracts have numerous advantages over traditional digital agreements, offering increased security, trust minimization, and transparency alongside deterministic execution. These transformative improvements over traditional systems and processes are already being realized across various use cases and industries. From the rise in popularity of DeFi protocols to the emergence of various blockchain-based insurance startups such as Arbol, smart contracts are redefining the trust models at the core of economic and social systems.

As smart contracts continue to gain adoption, there will be an increasing need for skilled smart contract developers who understand the nuances of creating secure and feature-rich hybrid smart contracts. This smart contract developer bootcamp aims to jumpstart your journey into the smart contract ecosystem by providing a solid foundation in Ethereum, Solidity, and Chainlink oracles.

As you learn the ins and outs of Solidity and smart contracts, you’ll eventually want to build smart contracts that are connected to external data and computation. Chainlink is the most widely used oracle network for powering hybrid smart contracts, enabling any blockchain to securely access off-chain data and computations. Learning to use decentralized oracle networks such as Chainlink is integral for any smart contract developer hoping to create hybrid smart contracts that leverage both the capabilities of blockchain networks and secure off-chain services.

With this in mind, the bootcamp teaches developers how to create smart contracts in Solidity that are connected to external data and APIs. Specifically, smart contract developers will learn how to make use of Chainlink Data Feeds for consuming tamper-proof market data, as well as how to leverage Chainlink VRF for generating verifiably fair random numbers in smart contracts that require a secure source of randomness.

By the end of the bootcamp, developers will understand Ethereum and other EVM-compatible blockchains, the basics of Solidity and coding smart contracts, and how to use Chainlink in conjunction with their on-chain Solidity contracts to create hybrid smart contracts.
