block42 Receives Grant to Natively Integrate Chainlink on Fantom

The Chainlink Community Grant Program provides financial resources to the many development teams and researchers building a more functional, accessible, and socially impactful Chainlink Network. We encourage talented individual developers and development teams to apply to the grant program here, or if you are a researcher and want to collaborate, contact us.

We’re excited to announce that blockchain development shop block42 has been selected as a recipient of a community grant to complete a native integration of Chainlink into the high-throughput smart contract platform Fantom. The grant is in response to demand from projects wanting to build with Chainlink on the Fantom Network across numerous industries and use cases, including DeFi, tokenized assets, gaming, IoT, and more. In particular, the grant will support the launch of Chainlink Price Feeds to enable the creation of a vast array of DeFi products in lending, derivatives, stablecoins, and various other financial services.

As part of the grant, block42 will provide several key components to the integration, including:

  • Validate and adapt Chainlink contracts to ensure native compatibility with Fantom
  • Test and deploy all Chainlink components to Fantom mainnet, with continual maintenance and upgrades
  • Provide an automated test to verify the integration of Fantom and Chainlink using test node instances

block42 is an Austria-based blockchain startup that provides research, development, and consultancy services for corporates, startups, and various projects within the greater blockchain ecosystem. Their team has previously contributed to the development of tooling and supporting infrastructure for leading blockchain projects such as Terra, Thorchain, Fantom, ICON, Hyperledger Fabric, and Ethereum. They also have experience creating a blockchain-based tracking system for limited edition assets using NFC chips.

Fantom is a high-performance and decentralized blockchain platform designed to support scalable and secure smart contract applications. Fantom’s aBFT consensus protocol allows users to create transactions that finalize in only a couple of seconds and cost a fraction of a cent. This results in a network that can process thousands of transactions per second while retaining full EVM-compatibility.

block42’s proven experience in building secure, open-source blockchain infrastructure, and in particular on Fantom, makes them a strong candidate to receive funding from the grant program. Through a native integration, the Fantom Network can retain its high-throughput performance as Chainlink oracle solutions can be built to run at the native speeds of Fantom without external dependencies on other blockchains. This enables the creation of high-throughput DeFi, gaming, and various other dApps that further extend the value made possible through universally connected smart contracts.

“We’re excited to be awarded a community grant to further expand the Chainlink Network by integrating its oracle technology directly into the Fantom smart contract platform,” stated Lukas Goetz, CEO of block42. “As an experienced development and consultancy firm, we look forward to adapting Chainlink’s oracle infrastructure and suite of existing solutions for use by developers on Fantom, allowing them to build highly secure, scalable, open-source, and data-driven smart contract applications across a number of different use case verticals.”

Through the Chainlink Community Grants program, we look forward to continuing to empower more and more Chainlink ecosystem teams, researchers, and social impact projects who are both researching and building key tools and infrastructure that accelerate the development of universally connected smart contracts, secure oracle networks, and impactful technology that improves the world. We will continue supporting the community as a key driver of Chainlink’s rapid growth, because only together can we make universally connected smart contracts into the dominant form of digital agreement.
