Protofire Receives a Grant for Native Integration of Chainlink on Avalanche

The Chainlink Community Grant Program provides financial resources to the many development teams and researchers building a more functional and accessible Chainlink Network. We encourage talented individual developers and development teams to apply to the grant program here, or if you are a researcher and want to collaborate, contact us.

We’re excited to announce that Protofire, a provider of blockchain development services, has been selected as a recipient of a blockchain integration grant for the native integration of Chainlink into the Avalanche blockchain. The grant will support Chainlink ecosystem projects building on Avalanche across numerous markets like DeFi, tokenized assets, gaming, and more. With the goal of servicing the demands of the smart contract economy across various blockchains, this grant represents direct financial support for a new crop of decentralized applications being developed on the Avalanche blockchain.

Protofire is a recognized provider of development services and consultancy around blockchain technology, building decentralized protocols, smart contracts, applications, and developer tools (SDKs/APIs). Their team has contributed to the development of many top projects in the blockchain ecosystem, including Maker, 0x, Tezos, Gnosis, Kyber Network, The Graph, Synthetix, and more. Protofire recently received a community grant to support a Chainlink integration with the xDAI blockchain, proving they already possess experience and expertise in integrating Chainlink’s blockchain-agnostic oracle technology natively into new networks like Avalanche. They are also currently contributing to the Avalanche-Ethereum Bridge, a two-way token bridge for transferring ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens and bootstrapping liquidity on Avalanche.

Avalanche is an open-source platform for launching decentralized applications, new financial primitives, and interoperable blockchains. It currently uses two consensus protocols, which can support thousands to millions of network participants: 1) Avalanche–DAG-optimized consensus protocol which is high-throughput, parallelizable, and simple to prune; and 2) Snowman–a chain-optimized consensus protocol that is high-throughput, totally-ordered, and ideal for smart contracts. Avalanche can process thousands of transactions per second with a near one second finalization, making high-volume P2P payments and asset transfers practical. Additionally, each blockchain launched on Avalanche can define its own core logic and validator set, allowing compliance and privacy by default.

As part of the grant, Protofire will provide several key components to the integration, including:

  • Validate and adapt Chainlink contracts to ensure native compatibility with Avalanche
  • Test and deploy all Chainlink components to Avalanche mainnet, with continual maintenance and upgrades
  • Deliver a monitoring solution for Chainlink nodes operating directly on Avalanche

“We’re excited to be awarded a Chainlink Community grant to continue to expand the Chainlink Network by integrating its oracle technology directly into the Avalanche blockchain,” stated Manuel García, CEO of Protofire. “As a highly experienced dev shop that is already successfully porting Chainlink into another blockchain, we look forward to bringing the Chainlink core oracle technology and suite of existing solutions to developers on Avalanche, empowering them to build a wide variety of advanced smart contract applications connected to real-world data and external systems.”

Through the Chainlink Community Grants program, we look forward to continuing to empower more and more Chainlink ecosystem teams and researchers who are both researching and building key tools and infrastructure that accelerate the development of universally connected smart contracts and secure oracle networks. We will continue supporting the community as a key driver of Chainlink’s rapid growth, because only together can we make universally connected smart contracts into the dominant form of digital agreement.
